Not to mention during the hot summer, the truth is linen shirts are comfortable even in all year round.
“THE LINEN SHIRTS” are based on THE SHIRTS, which make the wearer look casual but well-groomed. We aimed at durable shirts capable of wearing many years that will agree with the wearer’s skin the more he/she wears.
The fabric is made from the highest grade of flax cultivated in France, long known as a production region of linen.
We chose the fine yarn called “80/1” (No. 80 count) among others to weave quite finely at such a density as regarded as the limitation for a weaving machine. So, they are thicker and less transparent than ordinary linen shirts.
Linen fibers are porous and have a hollow central part like straws, which make them quick to dry and to discharge water such as sweat and moisture outward quickly.
The vaporization heat lowers the skin temperature. Coupled with the chilly touch, which is unique to linen, you can wear linen clothes in a cool and dry feel.
Not well known, though, linen is a recommended material in all year round as well.
In the cold season, the air rather than water is retained in the hollows of the fibers due to less amount of sweat or moisture. Accordingly, gradually absorbing the heat from your body while being worn, linen clothes make you warm.
Linen fabric is thin, less stiff, and breathable, so linen clothes are ideal for wearing several layers. You may sweat due to the temperature difference, for example, when you move from the cold outdoors into a warm room. Still, linen clothes discharge sweat well so that you can wear them comfortably without sticking.
The fabric of a brand-new item is moderately crisp and stiff. Yet, it gradually becomes softer as repeatedly washed with water.
The ease of care that allows washing in a washing machine is a charm of linen as well. Getting the linen fabric wet with water makes the connection between fibers firmer. Thus, linen clothes are less susceptible to damage than those made from other natural fibers, allowing you to wear them for years.
To maintain good shape retention, a plush interlining commonly used for high-class dress shirts is used in the collar and wrist. The plush interlining is considered to require a high level of craftsmanship to sew, but has an ideal stiffness that is comfortable to the neck and wrist.
The button is made of a Takase Shell that is durable to heat and less susceptible to warping. Moreover, a shell button is considered easy to hook and less likely to slip out of its hole. In order to make the buttons even easier to hook and unhook, they are attached with a technique called “Zampa di Gallina” (‘Chicken feet’ in Italian) in which the button is stitched diagonally, resembling a bird footprint. This method of button stitch is rare in Japan, due to the lack of capable machinery.
In order to make this shirt possible, the fabrication was outsourced to HITOYOSHI Co., Ltd, a Kumamoto prefecture-based company that manufactures high-class shirts of brands across the globe.
Additionally, by changing the finish after washing, you can enjoy the range of dressing manner.
While the clothes left after washing generate rough feel typical of linen, ironing out the wrinkles allows you to wear them in business scenes. Further, dry-cleaning and starching the clothes create a crisp texture of the fabric and moderate gloss, allowing you to wear them in more formal situations.
Linen material has been added to the high-quality “THE SHIRTS”, which is comfortable, easy to wear, and appropriate for all occasions.
